openBOXware experiment report15-11-2011

As we all were hoping, the experiment has been a success! On the NeuNet blog you’ll find a detailed report, some notes and pictures taken during the demo on November 11th, 2011 when the capabilities of the openBOXware for Android prototype have been demonstrated in public.

The feasibility and advantages of exploiting technological and functional convergence between smartphones and smartTVs, as described by the openBOXware concept, have been proved in practice.

By using openBOXware for Android, any Android-based smartphone turns into a device capable of playing back any online multimedia resource as if it were a common TV channel, that can be connected to a TV screen and controlled by a remote controller.

The framework will soon be available on the Android Market. In the meantime, if you are interested in becoming an openBOXware for Android alpha-tester, please contact us at
